Oakley was built in the first quarter of the 19th century in what is now the Heathsville Historic District in Northumberland County. This Federal-style house features Greek Revival detailing. Despite additions and alterations to the house, notably a rear ell built at the end of the 19th century, the central block still reads as a two-and-one-half-story, single-pile, central-passage house. The façade boasts a handsome porch with paired Doric columns, a latticed balustrade, and a heavy cornice highlighted by brackets. The Oakley property also contains a prominent turn-of-the-20th-century barn.
